Integrating Artificial Intelligence with Blockchain for the Application of Training Autonomous Cars

This paper describes the coalescence of Artificial Intelligence and Blockchain, the two booming technologies of the decade. These technologies are capable of a wide variety of applications both in our day to day life and in Industrial use. These technologies belong to different domains meaning both have their own unique architecture and purpose. We know that the autonomous cars are trained using machine learning algorithms, more specifically, they are trained through reinforcement learning. The process of learning can be tedious and time consuming as each and every car has to be trained before it can be out in the market. This problem of training each car can be overcome by Blockchain. Blockchain maintains a shared memory or logbook which stores the memory from all it’s connected nodes. Therefore, you need to train only one car and the others can use its experience or training thereby greatly eliminating the time of training all the cars....

PROGRAMMING AND SIMULATION OF A ROBOT MODEL USING ROS AND GAZEBO

As the planet evolves into a much more technologically advanced world, there is a need for development of much advanced machines to reduce the effort put in by the mankind. The development of machines is a large field of work and to test the optimal working and efficiency of these machines, prototypes are to be modelled and put through a thorough observation. This process requires a lot of raw material for building and creating the environment for the machine to be tested in. An efficient alternative is virtually simulating the machine along with the testing environment. For machines like robots, there are many virtual modelling softwares and simulators available making the testing process much simple. One such alternative is ROS – Robot Operating System. It has all the required tools for modelling, testing and visualizing the robot inside a laptop. ROS comes with a simulator called Gazebo. Inside gazebo, one can create a virtual environment – a world, as gazebo refers it – and deploy robot models for testing. ROS makes it easy to create a robot model using URDF – Unified Robot Description Format – an XML based text program that can model the robot as required. In this paper, creating a custom modelled robot and deploying it in a “world” is discussed....

EMBEDDED DEEP LEARNING IN IOT

The proliferation of IoT devices heralds the emergence of intelligent embedded ecosystems that can collectively learn and that interact with humans in a human-like fashion. Recent advances in deep learning revolutionized related fields, such as vision and speech recognition, but the existing techniques remain far from efficient for resource-constrained embedded systems. This dissertation pioneers a broad research agenda on Deep Learning for IoT. By bridging state-of-the-art IoT and deep learning concepts, I hope to enable a future sensor-rich world that is smarter, more dependable, and friendlier, drawing on foundations borrowed from areas as diverse as sensing, embedded systems, machine learning, data mining, and real-time computing. Collectively, this dissertation addresses five research questions related to architecture, performance, predictability and implementation. First, are current deep neural networks fundamentally well-suited for learning from time-series data collected from physical processes, characteristic to IoT applications? If not, what architectural solutions and foundational building blocks are needed? Second, how to reduce the resource consumption of deep learning models such that they can be efficiently deployed on IoT devices or edge servers? Third, how to minimize the human cost of employing deep learning (namely, the cost of data labeling in IoT applications)? Fourth, how to predict uncertainty in deep learning outputs? Finally, how to design deep learning services that meet responsiveness and quality needed for IoT systems? This dissertation elaborates on these core problems and their emerging solutions to help lay a foundation for building IoT systems enriched with effective, efficient, and reliable deep learning models....

ALERT SYSTEM FOR EMERGENCY VEHICLES

In a developing country like India, the population growth is rapid which obviously increases the traffic. Due to the increase in population, there has been a rapid growth in vehicle number which has become a major problem. Increase in the number of vehicles has exponentially increased the problem of traffic congestion which interferes the smooth flow of the traffic in the major cities of the country. This traffic congestion not only wastes the time of the citizens but also many of the vehicle users does not turn their engines off. This leads to the wastage of the fuel which has become one of the major problems in the current environment. Moreover it also causes the environmental pollution. Thus traffic congestion control and maintaining the smooth flow of traffic has become the biggest challenge for the traffic department in the country. Many manual methods have been implemented in order to control this problem but none of those have been successful. Using Internet of things, we can make use of cloud technology and various sensors to detect the number of vehicles in a single lane. We try to make decisions that are labour free and makes the solution even more useful and simpler. This traffic congestion causes many problems such as wastage of Fuel, Delay of travel and other issues. The traditional traffic system can be changed by using IR sensors to note the distance of the vehicle from the traffic lights. And according to the distance we can adjust the give the “GO” light to the lane whose traffic is at a less distance. After the signal is given we shift to the next lane in a cycle order. Since we are dealing with the density at which the vehicle is far from the traffic light we named the system as “Density based Traffic Control System”. The system also comprises of detection emergency vehicles such as Ambulances, VIP vehicles etc. This can be attained by the usage of RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) sensors which are deployed along with the IR sensors. RFID tags are deployed in the vehicles that are important. When these vehicles approach the junction, receiver detects the presence of the vehicle. Hence the lane having the emergency vehicle is provided GREEN signal irrespective of its density....

HOTSPOT TECHNOLOGY IN CRICKET

The game of cricket and the use of technology in the sport have grown rapidly over the past decade. However, technology-based systems introduced to adjudicate decisions such as run outs, stumpings, boundary infringements and close catches are still prone to human error, and thus their acceptance has not been fully embraced by cricketing administrators. In particular, technology is not employed for bat-pad decisions. Although the snickometer may assist in adjudicating such decisions it depends heavily on human interpretation. The aim of this study is to investigate the use of Wavelets in developing an edge- detection adjudication system for the game of cricket. Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools, namely Neural Networks, will be employed to automate this edge detection process. Live audio samples of ball-on-bat and ball-on-pad events from a cricket match will be recorded. DSP analysis, feature extraction and neural network classification will then be employed on these samples. Results will show the ability of the neural network to differentiate between these key events. This is crucial to developing a fully automated edge detection system....

SOLAR SAILS

One key challenging issue of facial expression recog- nition is to capture the dynamic variation of facial physical structure from videos. In this paper, we propose a Part-based Hierarchical Bidirectional Recurrent Neural Network (PHRNN) to analyze the facial expression information of temporal se- quences. Our PHRNN models facial morphological variations and dynamical evolution of expressions, which is effective to extract “temporal features” based on facial landmarks (geometry information) from consecutive frames. Meanwhile, in order to complement the still appearance information, a Multi-Signal Convolutional Neural Network (MSCNN) is proposed to extract “spatial features” from still frames. We use both recognition and verification signals as supervision to calculate different loss functions, which are helpful to increase the variations of different expressions and reduce the differences among identical expressions. This deep Evolutional Spatial-Temporal Networks (composed of PHRNN and MSCNN) extract the partial-whole, geometry-appearance and dynamic-still information, effectively boosting the performance of facial expression recognition. Experimental results show that this method largely outperforms the state-of-the-art ones. On three widely used facial expression databases (CK+, Oulu-CASIA and MMI), our method reduces the error rates of the previous best ones by 45.5%, 25.8% and 24.4%, respectively....

PAPER BATTERY

The paper battery is designed to use a paper-thin sheet of cellulose (which is the major constituent of regular paper, among other things) infused with aligned carbon nanotubes. The nanotubes act as electrodes, allowing the storage devices to conduct electricity. The battery will currently provide a low, steady power output as well as a supercapacitor’s quick burst of energy. While a conventional battery contains a number of separate components, the paper battery integrates all of the battery components in a single structure, making it more energy efficient andlighter.A paper battery is a flexible, ultra-thin energy storage and production device formed by combining carbon nanotube s with a conventional sheet of cellulose- based paper. A paper battery acts as both a high-energy battery and supercapacitor, combining two components that are separate in traditional electronics. This combination allows the battery to provide both long-term, steady power production and bursts of energy. Non-toxic, flexible paper batteries have the potential to power the next generation of electronics, medical devices and hybrid vehicles, allowing for radical new designs and medical technologies. It is a glimpse into the future of power storage. The team behind the versatile paper, which stores energy like a conventional battery, says it can also double as a capacitor capable of releasing sudden energy bursts for high-power applications....

IMOUSE: EYES GESTURE CONTROL SYSTEM

A high number of people, affected with neuro-locomotor disabilities or those paralyzed by injury cannot use computers for basic tasks such as sending or receiving messages, browsing the internet, watch their favorite TV show or movies. Through a previous research study, it was concluded that eyes are an excellent candidate for ubiquitous computing since they move anyway during interaction with computing machinery. Using this underlying information from eye movements could allow bringing the use of computers back to such patients. For this purpose, we propose an imouse gesture control system which is completely operated by human eyes only. The purpose of this work is to design an open-source generic eye-gesture control system that can effectively track eye-movements and enable the user to perform actions mapped to specific eye movements/gestures by using computer webcam. It detects the pupil from the user’s face and then tracks its movements. It needs to be accurate in real-time so that the user is able to use it like other every-day devices with comfort....

MICROWAVE LIFE DETECTION SYSTEM UNDER RUBBLE

Many people are killed during natural disaster which includes a cause of earthquake or manmade disasters like landslides, building collapse and avalanche. There is no end to the lives lost as the result of these disasters. When victims were trapped under rubble, there was a little chance that they would found. Due to fact that rescue techniques like optical devices, robotic systems were found limited application for the detection of buried victims. The use of sniffing dogs for detection of dead victims takes precious time which can be utilized to save alive victims. If the victim was unconscious and was unable to shout for help, then the existing rescue systems found to be failed. In order to decrease the death rate of the world caused due to these disasters, A Revolutionary System was developed to detect the victims trapped under the rubble using Microwaves. The Micro Wave Life Detection System is developed for the search and rescue of victims trapped under rubble of collapsed buildings during disasters under the principle of Doppler frequency shift. The life signs can be detected as it can able to sense to heartbeat and breathing fluctuations of human being of buried victims. By advent of this system the world death rate as a cause of earth quake may decrease to the greater extent....
